Because some people apparently can't help but abuse this feature and either post obnoxiously formatted and intrusive text or insanely large pictures in their sig, I have now completely disabled special formatting in this area.

If you are already using special formatting, this change will not affect you unless you go back and edit your sig from this point forward.

You should also make the font default to [SIZE=1].

I think that this decision was on of few BAD decisions from Dibrom...

PPL still use long sigs, these sigs are longer than ever because links are as normal text, not as hyperlink under shorter text.

Abusers should be punished, but normal ppl should be able to use fully featured sigs - this decision hurted more normal ppl than abusers IMO.
In next version of IPB will be (or not? I don`t remember) temp ban feature - just temp ban abusers... Moderators will be able to ban under certain situations.

Also pliz consider poll about these sigs...

We are yet to see ASCII pr0n in signatures. And if we ever see it, it won't be close to being as bad as what we saw before [img] got removed.

I have seen enough abuse to welcome this decision. I almost daily saw abuse with large images in sigs.
I don't want to have to write a person pr. day to stop abuse.
This is just one thing that makes it a little easier to be a moderator.
Ppl don't behave. No matter how much you try. So at last you have to just make it impossible for them to misbehave if you don't want to spend your time writting no-no letters and keeping track of who folllowed your request to stop abusing.

I hope that this setting can be done 4 specific groups (in IPB 1.2...) - that was good side of phpbb - just make group "Sig Abusers INC" and make correct settings, 4 non-abusers default - non restrictive setting.

I welcome this removal too. Having to punish individuals would be a fruitless task as Jan S. points out. The moderators would consistently be chasing their tails.

For those complaining about my BAD decision about sigs: get over it, it's not going to change. There will be no polls, and no, you will not get this decision reversed by whining and nagging.
