Full Version: 2 Much EQ in these Cassettes!

I will try to make this short and simple. I have some cassette tapes of
recording sessions my buddies and I did back in 1985-1990. The problem is
that we used TOOOOOOOOOOOO much EQ on it. So I sample the tapes into my CPU via Soundforege and then start to edit.

I am able to overcome the first 2 obstacles which is to remove the clicks/crackles and then use Noise
Reduction to eliminate the hiss, but now I am stuck with output that has
HISSING HIGHS and DISTORTED LOWS. I used the 10 Band EQ with Soundforge, and
that does not seem to work well, just makes the quality of sound degrade
it'self. Is there other techniques out there to cleaning up audio? Any good
plugins, that I can purchase ...etc?

Thanks in Advance
DonP
Just to make sure you didn't forget what you did back then, are you sure you are
playing them back with the same dolby setting they were recorded wth (b/c/none)
and the normal eq for that type of tape?
