I need to find the title of an 80's cartoon series, 'cos I wanna try to find
the opening theme in mp3.

It's quite a peculiar sci-fi series, with a (kind of) silly plot, but anyway, here goes:

The main character is a boy whose father was a scientist. The father experimented in
his lab with plants, but as a result of a failed experiment, a bunch of plants mutated
into intelligent green monsters and took over the lab, possibly killing the father.
The series talks about the boy's ventures in space with his companions, which if I
remember correctly include a girl, a pilot (middle aged with long hair in a tail), an old
man and a robot (not so sure about the robot). They roam the galaxies in their
spaceship, trying to find a way to stop the evil intelligent plants. The plants have
developed personalities, one of them is apparently the leader, and they utilize
(or transform into) armed vehicles when fighting. The drawing technique is reminiscent
of cartoon series like M.A.S.K. or GI Joe.

Hope someone watched tv during the 80's so they can help me!
