Anyone using SonicStage 1.5 software? Is it any good?
atici
Why would you use it for ? It simply sucks, because there're better rippers than SS and codecs than ATRAC. It's the only reason why I'm not buying a Sony NW-MS70D. And it screwed up my Windows system (because it installs older versions of Macromedia and CDDB, etc. without asking) and I had to reinstall bunch of stuff. If you're not forced to use it (i.e. a Sony owner), then don't.

Check this and this.

I have done no objective tests though on quality of the rips. ATRAC is already tested in the thread I gave a link to. But it's one of those "trying to be good looking and simple software that combines many features and designed for average Joe" kinda thing. I am into using specialized software for specific purposes and hate iTunes or Windows Media Player mentality (that's why I love UNIX tools) . However it screws your Windows for sure trying to install this OpenMG thing. With all these names/disguises like "OpenMG", "Secure" they're trying to impress ordinary user with techy words and make them forget they're installing something that is designed to limit their freedom of having/moving/sharing music and screw the convenience of digital music. If you know that mentality you would go "ewk" at the first minute you use SonicStage.
