Howdy,
I used to have a Pentium 100 but it died and was given a motherboard replacement equivelant to a p100 as a replacement. It workd fine but Lame crashes when I try 2 use it with any pre compiled verion of Lame 3.91. Any Help Would Be greatly appreciated. (I'd hate not to be able to use LAME!!!!)
Thanks in Advance,
Scott

You were given a Cyrix chip as a replacement for a real Pentium?

Get it back and _demand_ a real Pentium:

a) the Cyrix is MUCH MUCH MUCH slower for audio encoding

b) it's not fully compatible with the Pentiums, this is likely why the LAME binaries crash. try to find a nonoptimized binary

c) much more susceptible to overheating problems

Yeah, I had a "Cyrix 200" at one point, it ran about as fast as a p120 for many applications.

And these days you can probably buy a real p100 for about $1, not to mention even faster chips, so it's not really worth settling for a cyrix...

Howdy,
It dosen't matter anyways. A friend of mine is going to install a p166 processor in the motherboard I have. So i'll put up with what I have until then....
Also I have tried build from about 5 sites all crash weird...
Anyway Catcha Ya,
Scott
