Full Version: HELP detecting and removing silence

Hi,

This is the first time I have posted here but my own search has come up short and I'm hoping one of you can help me.

I have an MP3 collection in excess of 11,000 tracks that have all been ripped from my own cd collection. The problem is the varying length of silence at the end of each MP3 file. I need an audio editor that can detect the silence and remove it in a batch mode from all my files. Any suggestions?

Thank you
Rudeboy

MP3Trim is the programe you need. it's shareware, i think you can remove silence at beginning and at the end of a mp3 file.

Thank you FuRaL! I checked out that program and the "Pro" version is exactly what I need to do this in batch mode. It's a little pricey at $79 but I will pay it gladly to accomplish this task. Thanks again

Make sure you make a good backup copy of your collection before you go happy with MP3Trim Pro's batch mode.

Does anybody know of a free alternative to MP3Trim, that does not have the file size limitation and can remove digital silence and remove faulty last blocks?

I think musicutter is supposed to be best - it handles VBR properly.
Also, have you tried MP3DirectCut or MP3 Frame Editor?
