I just purchased Jack Johnson's On and On and I heard from friends, that it was copy protected because it had trouble playing in car players. But, I just took it out of the cellophane and am ripping it as we speak. The tracks ripped so far sound fine but, ripping speeds are extremely slow. Does any one know if there is copy protection? I tried Fat Chuck's, searching google, and this forum's powersearch but, didn't find that it was.
Yes it is copy protected. By whatever copy-protection EMI use. Cactus Shield maybe?

heh. nice copy protection, I SUPER CRACKED IT by double-clicking EAC, and clicking the mp3 button on the side!! Maybe this isn't a threat after all, more a joke!

Depends on the drive how easy it'd be. You must be lucky.

Neither of my drives (NEC DVD-ROM & No Name CDRW) can rip Cactus Shield cds (200 or 300). But my fathers no name cd-rom does so fine.

The best solution is to use a LITE-ON drive (all drives I have seen can rip Cactus DataShield (100/200/300) and Key2Audio discs), or some extremly old 1x or 2x drives, which are not capabile of reading multi-session discs (however, they also might not read audio data in digital mode).

http://people.freenet.de/Clony.eng/ClonyXL...XLFinal_eng.zipAre you sure it's 200? I'm sure all new EMI releases are coming out with 300 now... One of the latest I bought has that (it was an import though).

Hmm I was actually wrong. I just checked on the versions.txt file and it is actually CDS200. I had read this cd would be coming out with CDS300 and I also couldn't rip it on one of my drives, whereas the twin of this cd released the year before (CDS200) ripped fine. Strange...

Good content (hence the Off-Topic tag). Just recently discovered him and am looking for him to come to town.
