The encoder window trying to encode but....
fast closed. It's done so fast I can read only:
"Error encode........................."
In encoder window & it closed.

I try to encode from clear DOS command line
- OK. All right.

But when I trying to encode to MPC
from EAC using User Defined Encoder
(I use switches --xtreme %s %d)

It does not work

Under win2k all working fine ohmy.gif
but I don't want destroy WinXP

I repeat It should work but it does not.

I have the same problem. I posted a message about it on the EAC board a while ago, but didn't get a reply. It worked for me under XP with prebeta 11.

Hi t_vitaly,

This is strange since you said it works when you encode from within a Command Line windows.

What version of EAC are you using ?

My setup is : Win XP-Pro, EAC V0.9 beta 2 (last version) and mppenc 0.90s.
Everything work flawlessly for me using either
--xtreme %s %d
or
--insane %s %d

Are all the other EAC parameters exactly the same as when you're under Win2K ?
Also, to help debugging you could try invoking another encoder (lame) from the User Defined Encoder.

I'll try to dig a little when I'm back home tonight.

let us know.

Man, this is funky !

Same setup/versions, not the same behaviour ! Note that this is quite common in ms_land !

Have you tried using an other encoder through the external encoder interface ? lame, oggenc or an older version of mppenc ?

Did you delete that reg key when you installed the new EAC?

Yes, lame & older (0.90o-version)
they all working fine.
Does not work only User Defined Encoder mode
Today everning I'll try to use this mode
with lame & tomorrow I'll write the results.

I not update window from w2k to XP.
I install XP in another partition as another OS.

FYI, this is my post to the EAC board. I did not test it with an .EXE file, it might very well give the same problem. I did delete the registry key upon installing the new version.

bug in the user defined encoder?
Is there a bug in the new version if you use the user defined encoder with something else than an .exe? I have a script I've used with the previous versions of EAC which refuses to run now. Should be pretty straightforward, so I can't see why it doesn't.

A console window pops up and closes immediately, but it doesn't actually start my script (I tried putting a pause command in there but nothing changed).

This is the contents of the script, it's called from c:program filesmp3 gainarchive.cmd with parameters %s %d and a file extension of .mp3 - like I said, pretty straightforward stuff...

Hi t_vitaly,

I was able to reproduce what you are observing by doing a fresh install of EAC 0.0 beta 2 on another machine (Win NT4 / mppenc 0.90s)

look in EAC/Compresssion Options/External Compression. Beside the command line (--xtreme %s %d) and mppenc.exe path, make sure that the Use file extension dialog is set to .mpc. This is important, since by default EAC will put .mp3 ! By leaving the .mp3 file extension I was able to reproduce what you were describing.

Hope it's a step in the right direction...

I tried the the older version prebeta 9...
it does not work too.. BUT!!!
& after using it the beta 2 works correctly
