Full Version: show file info for a file in a selection gone

I can't find anything about this on the boards, so I really hope this hasn't been addressed.

In 0.62a (and every other version I've used) I could have a group of files selected and still right click on a track in that selection and choose 'show file info.' That is gone now. I come across this when using the masstagger; often I have an album selected to be modified by the masstagger, and after starting the process I want to look at the file info for one file to see what info is already there. Now I have to select a single song, and then reselect the whole album if further masstagger action is necessary. Is this a bug?

It seems more like by design to me, but I preferred the old layout whereby right clicking on a single file in a selection allowed one to view the file info for only that file...

The old design couldn't be decoupled from the GUI, though.

Heh, I'm not sure I understand. So does that mean it isn't going to change back and I should stop trying to right click -> show file info amidst a selection in future releases?

I believe he took it out when selecting multiple files. You can still select files and use the masstager or rename files option. Or you can use the show file info for one selection.

Correct. Although it may actually change in 0.7. A lot of things will change in 0.7. (And all the current components will break, too.)

edit: But Verbal41 said, you can still right-click on a single file and it will show.

Feature request: It may seem useless to some, but I'd love to see the "Show file info" working on selections. Not like it used to, but with Previous and Next buttons. I mostly use the Masstagger, but sometimes I notice I misspelled a few tracks. It'd be great if you could select these few tracks -> Show File Info -> and then manually change the info with Previous and Next buttons to switch between the tracks in the selection. That's a lot faster than always going via the popup menu.

yeah that's what i want mostly from masstagger (after editing with regexps, ofcourse)

Thanks, well I'll look forward to 0.7 then. I just find it convenient to go back and forth between the massgatter and show file info for one file so I can see what I'm working on (without having to select a single track and then re-selecting the selection).

All of the components will break?? I'm going to start praying that you update your foo_playlistfind for compatability at some point.

Yep, whenever Peter bumps the component version number, all of the existing plugins fail to load. Sometimes components can just be recompiled with the new SDK, and sometimes they require a lot of changes before they'll recompile.

Don't worry. When we get to 0.7, I'll be updating my components, and I'm sure pretty much everyone else will, too. smile.gif

Great, thanks. I'd hate to be left behind with .6x while everyone else moved on.
