Soo happy for the automatic album scan feature! It just keeps getting better.
Thank you!

To Peter!

One suggestion to media library:

If I rename ape or flac file and folder contains apl files - check this apl files and if they have relation to renamed file, then change name of this file in apl's.
Also, If I move ape or flac file, then move apl's with last one.

I second that.

I like the idea of an automatic library update a lot, but please give us the option, if we want to use this feature. My music files are on an external harddisk, which is not always connected. It's mounted as an usual folder, which is empty, if the harddisk is not connected.
My question in that case is: No files in folder -> empty music library?

With regards,
mister_tee

I use a similar setup, so I would like to add to the request of having auto library rescanning as an option, with the alternative being the old behavior.

No more delay when playing/enqueuing files from Windows Explorer.

I haven't seen anyone mention this here, but I appreciate this improvement very much.

Media Library now automatically keeps track of any changes made to its folders; no more need to manually rescan them.

My only worries are that my library is on an external hard drive which is not always connected.  I tried disconnecting the drive and the songs do not disappear from the library ... the only effect seems to be a periodically appearing error message in the console.

Just please make sure that this situation is handled gracefully in 0.9.6 final.

Thank you for the great improvements.

One little thing could be better I think. The File Format input-field in the converter setup could be bigger. Maybe the preview should be beneath and not aside. There would be more place to expand all Output Files-fields.

agreed. the output format drop-down box is at least twice as wide as it needs to be whereas the specify folder and name format text fields are at least half as long as they need to be.

other than that, i love love love the new converter interface and i wish the playback interface was similar. the inclusion of replaygain with the saveable playback profiles is something i've been needing/wanting for quite some time.

Thanks for the auto updating Library but it doesn't seem to work as intended for me.
If i rip a CD to my library folder, the library (menu>library>search) is not updated until i stop and restart foobar.
Before the new auto updating Library (ie 0.9.5.6) my library was 'auto' updating after riping a CD to it but not anymore which sounds paradoxal
My Library is on a network drive, i don't know if it matters.
Any idea ?
edit : sorry i forgot to mention i'm on XP Pro SP3

Oh my god, they actually changed the stop after current behaviour so it selects the next track on stop! Amazing! Why was this not even advertised, it's great! In before shitstorm...

try creating an autoplaylist via media library search. on my secondary installation of foobar, i created an autoplaylist that contains all songs in my library folder. this updates real-time. i just converted some files from an outside folder into the library folder and watched them appear in the autoplaylist as each file finished encoding.

Well done, the Converter looks pretty good, I'll test it. If the presets match all aspects (naming, format, output files etc.), this would be really great.

A warning would be appropriate: As far as I can see the converter preferences MRU has disappeared. Many of us probably had pretty complicated code in them...

Many thanks, I'm also very happy about the Converter, it is the most important part of fb2k for me. Now it makes handling of different file output situations very easy.

Just curious: How does the new "Pause" function of the converter technically work? I was expecting FB2k to suspend the running encoder process, but it does kill the process and restarts it again...

I also agree. I think the multi entry preview is not necessary, because most likely it's enough to see one example after code changes. So my vote goes for the old layout: full width input field with a one-line full-width preview below.

Haha, I'd been asking/waiting for this for ages - thanks guys!

is there a thread to check for updated plugins compatible with this version?
i'm mostly interested in dsp_delta, dsp_ssrc, prettypop, playback_custom, peakmeter.

any info would be appreciated.

What do you mean by playback interface? The main window?

under preferences > playback, combine the replaygain/preamp section with the DSP manager and include the RG/preamp when saving a profile.

switching between track and album mode isn't what i'm looking for. i have a number of DSP chain profiles. one is customized for general speaker playback, another is customized for general headphone playback, and i have several customized for individual 5.1 albums. the preamp varies from +/-0dB to +6dB depending on the profile. i would very much like to have the preamp setting be saved along with the DSP profile, which can now be done under the converter interface (under the processing tab).

I like the new converter dialog a lot, but wouldn't it be more simple if there was only one output filename field? I don't understand the need for the first and third combo boxes since the second one already does a multipurpose job.

I Updated to Foobar 0.9.6 and everything is fine, exept my Defauld Playlist behaves strange. Until now, every song I added was added to the end of this list. Now when I add a sond in the explorer it is send to the "Defalt Playlist" but all previous songs in there are deletet. So most of the time there is only one song in the list. I probably made some stupid mistake, but can someone tell me how to get the old behaviour back?
Thanks

Preferences - File Types - Set enqueue ...

Yup, you can set "Image" into combo box No. 2 and then you have behaviour of #3. But at least No. 1 should stay, because maybe it's more intuitive than splitting by an appropriate pattern.
#3 does not set (embedded) CUESHEETS or Chapters.

I think the Presets (same for the Renamer and DSP manager) should immediately load without needing to press "Load". Currently it's a very unusual behaviour IMO.

cuesheets are now ignored by default when adding entire folders as well as in the Media Library.

That's why I had exclude: .cue;.m3u;.log  in the file types for years
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice there is.
