How Do I Understand What Encspot Reports?

I have two .mp3 of the same musical piece:

First

Type                : mpeg 1 layer III
Bitrate            : 192
Mode                : stereo
Frequency          : 44100 Hz
Frames              : 9399
Length              : 00:04:05
Max. Reservoir    : 511
Av. Reservoir      : 439
Emphasis            : none
Scalefac            : 11.9%
Bad Last Frame      : no
Encoder            : Lame 3.90 (alpha)
Lame Header        : No

Second

Type                : mpeg 1 layer III
Bitrate            : 192
Mode                : stereo
Frequency          : 44100 Hz
Frames              : 9633
Length              : 00:04:11
Max. Reservoir    : 511
Av. Reservoir      : 445
Emphasis            : none
Scalefac            : not used
Bad Last Frame      : no
Encoder            : Lame 3.89 (beta)
Lame Header        : No

Wich one do I choose and why?
I'm just trying to understand what values like Scalefac_scale, Scfsi and Max. and Average Reservoir represent, and the direct correlation to quality; don't tell me to ABX it.

Thanks in advance.

Same musical piece?
Well it's not from the same source.... the length is different.

The first is a little shorter, does that matter?
The source is a CD I think, or should I say P2P? This is not the topic.

Keep the complete one
Wavpack Hybrid: one encoder for all scenarios
WavPack -c4.5hx6 (44100Hz & 48000Hz) ≈ 390 kbps + correction file
WavPack -c4hx6 (96000Hz) ≈ 768 kbps + correction file
WavPack -h (SACD & DSD) ≈ 2400 kbps at 2.8224 MHz

It was too dumb to ask for a reference to understand values displayed by EncSpot like Scalefac_scale, Scfsi and Max. and Average Reservoir, and the direct correlation to quality(if any), or am I missing something?

If average reservoir is very small, the encoder didn't know how to use the bit reservoir correctly. This will hurt quality. No idea about the others.

...or the encoder didn't needed to fully use the reservoir because of vbr.

I think that you should not really bother to understand every parameter reported by EncSpot.
They are understood by the people who need to understand them...

Mr. Gabriel: I developed a great respect for you and other people in this forum, and besides my post count, i've been lurking hydrogenaudio for ages, and followed Dibrom since the issues with Roel @r3mix.net that motivated him to create the best audio forum in the world IMHO; and I have to say that your response sounded  kinda like uncool newbie hammering(not disrespect intedended, since I think that you and many people in this board are way cool) Of course, I don't consider myself a lazy newbie that ask for everything in a plate; I'm the exact opposite, a person who haves the most fun in the pursuit of knowledge, quoting dreamliner77.
I did not find any info on this searching, so I asked naturally; I usually don't post here much because most of the great knowledge shared here is simply found by reading, and I post a lot on other boards too, and 24 hours fly away:D
However, I perfectly understand the mess of people using ridiculous parameters with L.A.M.E. some time ago, before the --alt-presets, but I was not trying to do something like that. If an app offers andvanced info, then why not try to understand it, is like you told me to use AudioCatalyst, because EAC is way too complicated for me. BTW I love EAC! All this was to make myself clear, nothing more.
Thank's about the reservoir info Garf. Now I will try to use Google to find more info, is my friend that keep pushing me to explain him the info that EncSpot reports. I miss the old smilies. Sorry about my crap english.

Ok...

I've explained scalefac_scale here:
http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/index....t=593#entry5392

Shortly scalefac_scale means that when it's in use, scalefactors are multiplied by 2, which gives more dynamics for quantization.

Scfsi (scale factor select intensity):
Each frame of mp3 consist of 2 granules.
The second granule can via scfsi re-use the scalefactors of the first granule.
As far as I know, the purpose of this is just optimizing of the scalefactor-coding in order to save some space/bits.

(These quantization scalefactors in question have nothing to do with the scale factors which are scaled by mp3gain when applying replaygain calculations.)

Hope this helps..

Ok, sorry for my response.

Basically you looked like someone just wanting to download a good file from P2P, and very little knowledge about mp3.
When someone with very little knowledge about mp3 and audio coding asks a question about such internal coding things related to mp3, usually they do not understand the answer.

Of course everyone can learn, but I had the feeling that you were not really interested in learning, but more in downloading files from P2P.
At the beginning you answer to those people, but after some time (years in my case), you get bored to always answer questions to those people.

So I am sorry, I misunderstood your profile.
