i love the past version with autosave option to switch on...and i have a new question...why when i open an mp3 list without tag2 also appears it in tag editor ?

Tagscanner becomes better and better, thanks a lot Tarantul, otherwise would be great the addition of case change also in the tag editor tab, please consider it for the final release.

I've just switched to 4.9 RC3 from 4.8 and two things immediately bothered me:

1) Drop-down list for Tag version instead of tabs
  (so now instead with one click I need three moves to select Tag version that will be displayed)

2) Scroll down list for Main, Extended, Lyrics and Image sections of IDv2
  (also instead one click I need to scroll for every tag to see if it has eg Image in it. And it doesn't support mouse wheel and it doesn't scroll while dragging but jumps after releasing scrollbar)

Also old bug stayed that when ID1 exists and IDv2 doesn't, contents of IDv1 are shown in both, so there's no way of determining whether IDv2 really exists but to use other tag editing application...

never the less this app kicks As$, beats all non-free tag editors out-there!

For ID3v2 used UTF16. You may convert all files at once by selecting in Tag editor (<varies/unchanged> in all fields) and clicking Save button.

A user of the program asked me if she should install the new version over an old version of the program, or if she needs to uninstall first. (I made the Spanish translation several months ago, that´s why she asked me).
I´d try by myself but can´t because a lack of internet connection at home and no CD-RW drive around here. Plus my floppy drive died, can you believe my luck?.

I am trying to use TagScanner 4.9 build 495a beta to edit some FLAC tags without having much success.  I am doing the following:

- Launch TagScanner 4.9
- Select Tag Editor tab
- Browse -> Select one album's worth of files
- Select All
- Edit Genre Category
- Save

The status bar indicates that TagScanner is "processing" all of the files and then shows a "Done".  Despite this, the "Genre" category in the TagScanner window remains unchanged (not to mention the files themselves).

My directory is *not* read-only and I have permission to write to these files.  Any idea what's causing this?

Up top, the settings are "Ape" and "Auto".

TagScanner kills vorbis replaygain values if I try to edit a tag just a little bit !
For me it seems a bit strange..

Has someone posted something about this before ?

Good news!

I used to use tagSacnner v4.7 when i hadn't personnal connection... Very nice tool...
I've replaced it by foobar and his freeDB component when i gen internet at home... but since i gave up my conenction i'll come back to TagScanner (v4.9) now: for sure it's more ergonomic than the actual foobar2k masstagger... (very powerful thought)

Who knows maybe i'll return to foobar for offline batchtagging with soon v0.9 of peter player...

Hi,

I've found that TagScanner Build 495c have a problem - it erase some information that foobar2000 write into the file.

Here's my MP3 information shown in foobar2000's 'technical info':

Before

bitrate = 160
codec = MP3
channels = 2
samplerate = 44100
mp3_stereo_mode = stereo
replaygain_track_gain = -0.72 dB
replaygain_track_peak = 0.682060
----------
10041455 samples @ 44100Hz
File size: 4 550 926 bytes


After

bitrate = 160
codec = MP3
channels = 2
samplerate = 44100
mp3_stereo_mode = stereo

10041455 samples @ 44100Hz
File size: 4 550 850 bytes

I want to preserve the ReplayGain Info, any workaround or need to wait for next version?

ReplayGain info stored in APEv2 tags, do not delete this tags to preserve this information.

Hi Tarantul,

I select the "APEv2 + ID3v1" to be compatible with other "non APE tag awareness" programs. But this option kills the "ReplayGain Tag", did you mean I have no choice, only can use "APEv2" only?

If you already have to use other peoples code without giving credit, at least make sure you don't promote features that are buggy in that code...
