I'm sure everyone has this issue.  It's most likely a side effect of the fps limiter in foobar's preferences because changing this value affects the fps of bubbla.

Yes, I agree. I'm just wondering whether the difference between specified framerate and the one we get in Bubbla is the result of a bug of some kind or is it just an effect of the way Bubbla is designed.

Edit: typo.

I think something else is limiting fps here:
I got 45-56fps in windowed and 16-21fps at 1280x1024x32bpp
foobar cpu usage is about 3-19%(peak) at fullscreen 2-10% windowed
System A1.7+@10x200 + nForce2 + RAM 400DDR CAS2 dual + G2GTS 200/333DDR + WinXPPro

I think it can be memory or bus speed limiting fps.

BTW: foobar framerate = 85fps  (it has no influence, I can only limit fps this way)

Is it possible to get bubbla working as a standard Overlay? This is because i've got both monitor and tv out on my Shuttle XPC, usually if an overlay is displayed it'll automatically go fullscreen on the tv, meaning I can still browse and mouse around on the monitor without disturbing the film.

Ta,

i did some quick testing with the spectrum plugin,

at 30 fps it took 21 secs
at 60 fps it took 15 secs
at 120 fps it took 10 secs

Which seems to tie in with what i got from bubbla, so i dont think its anything to do with bubbla.

btw bubbla fps is same fullscreen or not here, and cpu usage is always 0-2%
.

IIRC, bubbla (as well as simple spectrum) is based on foo_vis_test, which ignores lagged chunks of visualization data. From my personal experience I can tell that the lagged chunk rate seems to be somewhat higher on Win98 than on WinXP.

Thanks for the plugin, GL_EXT_BISCUIT. Great work.

I do have one request (that also popped up in the original thread):

Can you please add the option to display the name of the currently playing song ? And, if possible, the current song playing time and time remaining (or total length) ?

I'll mention the M-word again: ever since I switched to FB2K, I've been on the lookout for a Milkdrop-like plugin for it, and now we are finally getting close.

I believe that song title displays are currently in the works for the next version.  I've wandered into Biscuit's room a few times and seen text bouncing around, so it should be a simple matter to make the song title display everytime you press a key, or after a given amount of time.

Bubbla development has stopped for a week or two,
for my job has wrought new demands upon both time and sanity.

But fear not, Bubbla is not dead, for I have not forgotten what matters most:
pretty colored pixels.

updates shall come, though perhaps not right soon.

just to let you know how it performs on my machine..
running fullscreen 1024*768*32 - 30fps @ gridsize 88!
actually it runs pretty much the same at size 32..
above 88 it starts to slow down drastically...
