WMA/ASX stream suppport

Does anyone have a rough sense for what it would take to improve the WMA plugin so it supports ASX streams?  Unfortunately I am seeing more and more radio stations (esp. public radio) that stream at much higher quality/bitrate using WMA, and one (KUOW-Seattle) that is only streaming in WMA and RealAudio.

Asking the question another way: is there any current effort to support ASX?

I would also really like to see this implemented.

Sorry if I'm bringing an ancient thread back to life, I just searched for ASX streams and found nothing.

Yes please.  I have many public radio *.asx streams.  I hate switching between WMP and Foobar2k, because I have kernel streaming.

I would appreciate this as well. I currently cannot listen to WMA streams.

This has been requested a few times before, but sadly noone skilled enough to make it happen, seems to care much about wma support.

As a work around (kind of) you could use foo_winamp_input to wrap winamp's in_wm

a way to achieve that:
1- copy foo_winamp_input.dll to foobar2000/components dir
2- copy in_wm.dll to foobar2000/ dir
3- launch foobar, open "prefs>input>winamp input wrapper" then enter foobar2000 path in the "plugin path" text box. restart foobar2000
4- open the .asx playlist in notepad and get the stream url
5- last but not least, you might find out that in_wm cannot process extensionless addresses; enter a slightly modified location through foobar2000: mms://foo/bar/ or http://foo/bar/ --> http://foo/bar/.wma
note that you must add .wma AND replace mms:// with http://

random example: KUOW-Seattle (http://www.kuow.org/)
1- save multi.asx to hard disk
2- open in notepad for the url, in this case http://128.208.34.65/multi/
3- playlist>add location>http://128.208.34.65/multi/.wma

Hey, thats pretty neat. Works on some (2) of the stations i tested, the only problem is that they turn the master wave volume to zero when i switch to one of them.

I know this has nothing to do here, since its probably a prob with the winamp plugin, but can anyone else play this url: http://wmsc.dr.dk/e02ch07m?wmcontentbitrate=300000/.wma. Plays A-OK in mplayer+realplayer, but foobar only plays for a sec then stops

Could you tell me the versions of the components you use? Just did a fresh foobar install, same result

hey hello! Sorry for warming this up. But seems foobar is still unable to play windows media streams mms by default.

I wanted to try the winamp wrapper but the link .. .works but seems the plugin is unavailable at the site and not available somewhere else. Probably won't work anymore anyway.

So is this topic still on the go?
Will it be done sometime soon?

foo_input_mslive works well on Foobar 0.9.6.9
