Yes it can. I've tried it and it works as long there is no system dependencies, e.g. for playing WMA file which you need to download certain file (can't remember) to be installed in the system unless you already has it.

Yes, it works for me too. The only problem I've encountered so far is, if you plug the USB to a different computer and it assigns a different drive letter. For example, my USB with foobar on it is always drive F:, and when I plug it and it becomes drive E:, the playlists don't point to the correct files.

You can get around this issue on this windows computer by either mapping some other drive to E: before you plug in the USB. Or (as long as the letter you need is still free, F: in my case) you can share the whole USB drive to yourself only and map it to F:.

Does anyone know if I can make playlists relative to the position of foobar player - to avoid the problem above? If the playlist didn't contain the information that all the songs are on drive F: for me, and it were only saved the path from foobar program to music file, I would have less trouble with the drive letters. Thanks!

I'm interested too with a USB Drive version. The problem now is that we have to install the soft to update the folder on the USB Drive... boring.

Is there a way to extract the files from *.exe (if an archive version never come) ?

The *.fpl playlists always uses absolute paths. You can change the drive letters, though, by a search and replace. But as *.fpl playlists are binary files you must do such with a hex editor, not a text editor, or else you might damage the files. E.g. replace all text strings "file://E:\" by "file://F:\" (without the quotes). On the other hand, the *.m3u and *.m3u8 playlists made by fb2k uses relative paths (and theire pure text files, *.m3u are ANSI and *.m3u8 are UTF-8, so you can edit them with Notepad). So for this use it's maybe easier to use *.m3u.... (?) The paths are not relative to the position of the player, BTW, that's irrelevant, but of the position of the playlist in regard to the files it refers to.

Can't you format the usb driver with an absolute name like "myflash:" ?
