Media Library not picking up files occasionally

I switched from foobar 0.9.4 to 0.9.5, and this problem, amazingly enough, still exists. There's a similar thread on this forum, but it didn't have a satisfactory solution, so I'm posting this here as a sort of bug. In 0.9.4, the console says 'ML settings altered, ignoring scan results' (not the exact words) once I use 'Rescan Media Library'. In 0.9.5, the console doesn't say anything.

This problem happens occasionally. Lately it seems that whenever I scan the library and restart foobar2000, the next time I rescan the media library will fail. When I exit, the database.fpl goes from 800kb to 1kb again, and the next time I start it my Album List panel will be empty. Sometimes issuing 'Rescan media library' fixes the issue and it suddenly finds the files, but most of the time I have to delete database.fpl, restart foobar2000 and rescan to get my media library back.

This is really annoying, it seems this problem is rare and happens with older versions (judging from hydrogenaudio search results). Please fix it.

PS: I'm obviously not changing any ML settings while the scans are going on. There aren't many in the first place.

The Matroska plugin you have is most likely to blame for this. See this topic for more information and an alternative.

I don't want to step on Peter's toes with this one, but foo_input_matroska.dll, version 0.9.2.1 on the Matroska site fixed my media library woes. I had real bad issues with version 0.9.2.0, but I've had no issues at all since installing the latest version over a month ago. If Peter checked this newer version out and still found issues with it, then don't consider this post an endorsement of version 0.9.2.1.

I downloaded version 0.9.2.0 from matroska.org download page today. If they're too incompetent to put a working version on their site, that's too bad for them, it's not like the problem was discovered yesterday. Haali is working on another Matroska component, with somewhat limited functionality at the moment but without app-usage-ruining bugs.

Lots of people still install the broken version of this component. I think foo_input_matroska.dll filename ban (to be introduced in foobar2000 v0.9.5.1) and linking Haali's site from official components page is a better solution than telling every one of them to update.

You are correct that the main page references version 0.9.2.0. I downloaded version 0.9.2.1 from the Matroska "Index of/downloads/foobar2000" here: http://dl.matroska.org/downloads/foobar2000/

Thanks guys, I've confirmed (after rescanning and restarting foobar2000 several times) that installing Haali's component works. I won't bother with 0.9.2.1.

Here's to the best audio player ever, the only app (aside from modo) that's keeping me from switching to Linux.

As an update, the Matroska.org Downloads page has been updated to reference and link to foo_input_matroska.dll version 0.9.2.1
