Seeking a super simple black skin or ‘Changing menu color for dummies’

Hi

I get tired of iTunes (its not a media player, its a goddamn store) so I decide to try Foobar, and hell yeah its fantastic! but...

I know its been asking before, I did a three days search and I cant actually find the answer... How to change menu, scrollbar, volume bar, etc, colours? EASILY!

I know I should use WSH Panel and Panel Stack Splitter, but seriously guys, I cant understand a damn thing on how to do it, I cant find a "Change menus color on Foobar for Dummies" something like "open this, install this, paste this code here... and done! you have black menus", I'm not a lazy guy, I swear I been searching for days on how to do this, but guess I'm to stupid to figure it out.

I also been searching for a simple Black Skin that do the trick and do not modify my Foobar, just the appearance, and found nothing, I don't want to download a fancy custom skin from Deviantart or anything, I just want a simple CU configuration completely black

Thanks in advance for any help, and sorry for my crappy English, its not my native language.

Screenshot of my configuration so far...

Peace!

the toolbars are simply following the windows default. finding a dark windows theme would be the easiest workaround but that does mean downloading more rubbish from deivantart.

or you could hide the menu and setup keyboard shortcuts for your commonly used items.

Thanks for your quick response.

Ive already thought the possibility of changing all Windows Theme, but Im afraid its to much, my woman will star crying if I configure all in black! Hide all the menu its a good idea, but I really want to have volume panel, search box and all that stuff visible....

Its there any body out there with a black configuration with the will to share it?

Seriously, I'm starting to get desperate!

Thanks guys

I think you're confusing the severity of "wanting to color my music player black" with "desperate to find a job/house/missing loved one".

Foobar is really not designed to be colorized or skinned. Anything you find will be a hack or a trick.

I know - it is not the thing that you are looking for, but you can create 2 separate user accounts on your operating system. One account, yours, could be black as hell, other one, your girlfriend's/wife's could be pink as... Pinky Pie from My Little Pony  .

i did forget about one feature of columns UI. you can add the main menu toolbars and buttons to your layout in the same way you add panels. you can then set these to autohide to they only pop out when you hover your mouse in the right area. once you've got this setup, you can simply hide the main toolbars in the preferences.

With ColumnsUI you could reduce the size of the menu and the volume level and the seekbar to a minimum, like in my configuration:

Using VMware Workstation hosting an operating system and required resources, you could try making a virtualized portable app, for example . . .

- Start VMware Workstation with Host OS <----- not tweaked, default display properties
- Run your virtual app creation software (e.g. VMware Thinapp, JauntePE, etc) and make system snapshot #1
- Configure Host OS display properties to be ALL BLACK.
- Run foobar2000 installer and import your "Theme"
- When finished "exercising" your application, make system snapshot #2 with your virtual app creation software.
- Build your virtualized app, making sure all system paths are fully isolated.

By the OP:
"...I know I should use WSH Panel and Panel Stack Splitter, but seriously guys, I cant understand a damn thing on how to do it"

@marc2003 (aka JS scripting guru, aka OP of "WSH Panel Mod Script Discussion Help" forum thread):
You have made 3 posts already at this topic and they are pretty much limp-wristed answers.
Why don't you offer your knowledge in a proactive way and create a "PSS+WSH toolbar replacement" tutorial+download package so people like this OP can learn how to do this?

you're right. i could use WSH panel mod to make a replacement dark main menu. but you can't do anything about the search bar, filter headers/scrollbars or playlist tabs. they'd still stick out like a sore thumb so it's pointless even bothering.

a dark theme and EpicForever's suggestion of switching user accounts so as not to annoy the GF is still the most sensible idea.

Surely there are much easier and less resource-intensive ways to do this. Do skinning agents such as WindowBlinds not support per-application configurations? I would fully recommend exhausting all available alternatives before thinking about running an entire virtual machine purely for one application (in any context).

i'd imagine window blinds is less wallet intensive as well. vmware workstation is £170 to buy.

Totally unnecessary. I was contemplating abusing mod powers to remove this travesty.

I hope I can ask my question in this thread, since I have pretty much the exact same problem as OP. I did get a darker windows theme, but I still can't figure out how to change the color of these column sort button things (title, length, and data bars). All I know is that I'm using Columns UI and NGplaylist, and I tried using scripts on the columns, but could only change the background where the music is, and not the bars them selves.
Heres what I got so far:

Also, bonus points if someone has any idea why that very bottom strip is black, when the edges are transparent..

you can hide those column headers. it's in the preferences somewhere.

But what if I want to see them? ;-;
I use them to sort things a lot, so is there any easy way to color them?

you can't colour those bits yourself. find another theme that does.
